Nancy's Vintage Trailers: Getting Ready for a Vintage Trailer Party

Nancy's Vintage Trailers: Getting Ready for a Vintage Trailer Party: Some people collect stamps, coins or other small items. When I was younger we didn't have a lot of room, so I collected thimbles. Now th...

Today's The Day!! I Bought My Vintage Trailer!!

I was doing my evening "check" on craigslist last night for my vintage trailer, and lo and behold there it was....it didn't say what year or make it was, but I could tell by the pics it was old. I generally don't like to call people after 9pm, BUT, my husband did it for me! It was only a little after 9pm so it wasn't that bad, but we were able to make an appointment first thing this morning to see it. We would be the first people to look at it...yay!  He was only asking $400, since it needs quite a bit of tlc we were about to get it for even less... some of the windows are missing, needs painting, it's missing the dinette, and the list goes on...HOWEVER, I now have a  vintage camper and I'm VERY happy about that. It's a 1959 Mid-Jet by Midway.  I will be adding before and after pics of the inside and outside soon, but here's what the exterior looks like right now.

I'm thinking I'm going to paint it differently, arrange the stripes another way, possibly seafoam green, or cherry red, with black & silver accents.  I'm not sure what I'll do yet, so I'm looking at pictures on Pinterest and other people's trailers, excitedly gathering ideas.  I haven't decided on the theme yet either. I'm probably going to go with a traditional 50's vignette, black & white check flooring, vintage floral material for the curtains...I do like the Sisters on the Fly campers with the murals painted on them, too...hmm...THE POSSIBILITIES ARE ENDLESS!!

I was looking on craigslist again this morning for my vintage camper, just like I do every morning (and afternoon, and
evening!) I didn't find it yet, but as I was thinking about what I wanted it to look like and what style I wanted it to be,
I realized that I've been in love with campers since I was a little girl. I remember lugging my Barbie camper across the street to my bestfriend's house.
She also had a camper and we would spend hours arranging our campsites until they were just right...

Mom & Dad had many tent trailers and cabover campers that we would take on vacation, mostly to the mountains in Colorado & New Mexico. What great memories we made, stopping at pretty streams, grabbing the fishing gear, catching a mess of fish,
Cooking fish and fried potatoes over the campfire
That was a great place to camp and fish!
So it's no wonder that I want a vintage camper, to make some more beautiful
memories... traveling the backroads, being carefree, having a cute little home on wheels <3 <3 <3

Happy Mother's Day!!!  I'm thankful for my sweet mother, she's the best!  I don't know what I'd do without her.  I'm so glad that I get to talk to her most every day on the phone since she lives in Texas and I'm in Missouri.  I always enjoy it when we get together in person. This pic was taken when she came up to visit a couple of years ago, she was showing me how to make a Christmas centerpiece for a party.  She is the one who introduced me to oil painting, collecting antiques and most all the fun stuff!!!

I hate to admit it but I didn't paint every day this week like I had planned....the spring cleaning bug hit me and I've been clearing out the dust bunnies! With my husband, twin daughters, and five chihuahuas this house can become a mess quickly, and I don't know about you, but that really squelches my creativity! I like things to be in order, so by cleaning I have been working towards my painting goals after all :)
I did want to post a couple of the paintings that I've finished so far.  I really feel great when I'm painting, closer to God because I feel I'm using the gifts that He's given me. It really has a calming effect on me, so if you can, I would highly recommend doing the things that come naturally to you, the things that give you joy...

Today was absolutely gorgeous...which has me really wanting to find my vintage trailer so I can go GLAMPING with the hubby and pups.  Here is a pic of a trailer that I really like, I found it for sale on craigslist, however, it doesn't have a bathroom and that is a MUST on my list...too bad!!!

My First Blog!!!!! Yay!!

Where to start? What to say? These are the questions that have kept me from starting my blog for so long, but NO longer... today I'm finally doing it! I hope to encourage others to do things that they've wanted to do but don't feel qualified or are just plain scared to try. I do a lot of things on the internet, like Pinterest and Facebook, but truthfully, I have found blogging a bit intimidating. I am ready to take the leap, and start blogging... hopefully things that are interesting and helpful.
